Helping Living Well
My sister and Mom and I were asked to be interviewed about Living Well, a place we go to often and that we all feel has been such a wonderful place to go during my treatment and after, too. They were getting ready for their big annual fundraiser and made this awesome video of some of the people that Living Well has helped. We were very proud to be a part of it and think it turned out pretty neat. You might want to grab a kleenex or two.....

happy day
This Valentine's Day my sister and brother and I were a part of a very special occasion. Our friends, Theresa and Tyler got married and we were the flower girls and ring bearer!! We had so much fun and felt so excited to be a part of their special day! What is even cooler (my Mom reminded me of this) is that I met Theresa at clinic, where she worked, and her wedding was one day before an anniversary of mine. Today is the day that I was diagnosed with leukemia three years ago. A lot has changed in that time and I am happy to report that not only am I cancer free, but I am feeling pretty groovy. But what is really, really neat, is that I met someone as special as Theresa, at a time when everything in my life seemed to be turned upside down. I was so proud and happy to be walking in front of her as she said "I do".

the power of yellow
After one of my soccer games my Mom took me to Dairy Queen (aka...one of my favorite places) and I looked in the window of the shop next door and saw this sign. I wanted my Mom to take a picture of me in front of it. Last month was Childhood Cancer Awareness month. What does that mean? Well, it means that the yellow ribbon, which symbolizes childhood cancer, is put out there to raise awareness for this epidemic. They want people to talk about it, think about it and try to find a way to cure it! Please watch this video narrated by my favorite oncologist, Dr. Canner.

celebrity status
Remember when my Mom and I were asked to be a part of a marketing campaign for the hospital to help raise money for a new Child Life Specialist? That was fun.....and we came across this picture when we were looking at old pictures the other day. And then my mom's friend found another picture of me on the Cadence website (we didn't even know it was there!!!).
Check it out:

celebrating with Monkey
What an awesome way for me to finish up 1st grade!!!! My Mom and Grandma and Grandpa surprised me by having a "end of treatment/party for me and Monkey" party in my classroom! Mrs. B organized it so they were our Friday secret readers and they brought treats for everyone and it was so much fun. I won't be needing Monkey to sit in for me while I am gone very much anymore because I won't be at clinic as much.

I was really surprised and excited to win the Citizenship award for my class! I got to get up in front of the whole school and as you can see...I was grinning from ear to ear :)

Happy Birthday Chloe!!!
Dear Chloe,
You are 7 years old! How can that be? What an amazing little girl you are..... full of energy, love, laughter and life!!! You have completed treatment for leukemia and everyone is still in awe of how brave, strong, and truly remarkable you were throughout the 2 years of treatment.
You love singing, dancing, playing your guitar and performing for other people. You are not shy! And how about cheerleading and soccer and dance? You love it all and have tons of talent!
You enjoy going to school and have SO many friends....it is hard to keep track of them. You are smart, sassy, and adore your 1st grade teacher. Everyone seems to want to be around you. You make lots of people laugh...including us!
When we think of a words that best describes you, it would be courageous. Even your older sister admits she doesn't know anyone who is as brave as you are and she admits she couldn't have gone through treatment with such grace and dignity as you did. We would be so surprised if you didn't go into the medical field when you grow up. You have mentioned that you want to train nurses how to treat ports and be able to access them correctly. You would be great at that! You are not squeamish or freaked out by anything. SO BRAVE!!!!
You still love princesses and pretending and playing with your dolls. You love all things pink, girlish, frilly and fun!
You absolutely adore your sister and brother and have told us at least 100 times how much you love being the "middle child".
We love you so much Chloe Belle and are so proud of you! Happy Birthday!!!
Why can't you just stay young forever??? :)
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
