celebrity status

Remember when my Mom and I were asked to be a part of a marketing campaign for the hospital to help raise money for a new Child Life Specialist? That was fun.....and we came across this picture when we were looking at old pictures the other day. And then my mom's friend found another picture of me on the Cadence website (we didn't even know it was there!!!). Check it out: http://cadencehealth.org/Giving.aspx

celebrating with Monkey

What an awesome way for me to finish up 1st grade!!!! My Mom and Grandma and Grandpa surprised me by having a "end of treatment/party for me and Monkey" party in my classroom! Mrs. B organized it so they were our Friday secret readers and they brought treats for everyone and it was so much fun. I won't be needing Monkey to sit in for me while I am gone very much anymore because I won't be at clinic as much.

I was really surprised and excited to win the Citizenship award for my class! I got to get up in front of the whole school and as you can see...I was grinning from ear to ear :)

Being brave....

Aunt Kristi painted this very special plaque for me and gave it to me on my "last procedure" day at clinic. I just love it! It always reminds me of how Brave I really am!!!!

Happy Birthday Chloe!!!

Dear Chloe, You are 7 years old! How can that be? What an amazing little girl you are..... full of energy, love, laughter and life!!! You have completed treatment for leukemia and everyone is still in awe of how brave, strong, and truly remarkable you were throughout the 2 years of treatment. You love singing, dancing, playing your guitar and performing for other people. You are not shy! And how about cheerleading and soccer and dance? You love it all and have tons of talent! You enjoy going to school and have SO many friends....it is hard to keep track of them. You are smart, sassy, and adore your 1st grade teacher. Everyone seems to want to be around you. You make lots of people laugh...including us! When we think of a words that best describes you, it would be courageous. Even your older sister admits she doesn't know anyone who is as brave as you are and she admits she couldn't have gone through treatment with such grace and dignity as you did. We would be so surprised if you didn't go into the medical field when you grow up. You have mentioned that you want to train nurses how to treat ports and be able to access them correctly. You would be great at that! You are not squeamish or freaked out by anything. SO BRAVE!!!! You still love princesses and pretending and playing with your dolls. You love all things pink, girlish, frilly and fun! You absolutely adore your sister and brother and have told us at least 100 times how much you love being the "middle child". We love you so much Chloe Belle and are so proud of you! Happy Birthday!!! Why can't you just stay young forever??? :) Love, Mommy and Daddy

Friends and family remembered my special day (ummm....my last day of treatment at clinic!) with cards and flowers and smiles and hugs and goody baskets for the doctors (thank you Miss Katie and Aunt Kristi!) It made me feel really special and very loved.

My last procedure at clinic!!!

Today was my very last procedure at clinic (hopefully forever!) and actually, I get to stop my chemo all together in three days. Yes, you heard that right! Very exciting!!! Dr. Hayani was the one who first diagnosed me at the ER at CDH over two years ago and he was the one who gave me my final lumbar puncture and bone marrow draw. He told me afterwards that I was probably the bravest kid he had ever met (and he has been doing this for a long time....) and he couldn't believe that I didn't budge or make any movements during these two procedures. What a compliment! He went down to look at the slides in the lab before I left clinic and he said everything looked good. Not a leukemia cell to be found! YAY! What a lucky girl I am to have such amazing doctors and nurses and support staff around me during the fight against this icky disease.

today is the day

It is hard to believe but after two years.....two months....and three days (but who is counting???), I am hopeful that this will be my last day of treatment....chemo (oral and IV), spinal taps, and bone marrow biopsies..forever. We will find out the results of the bone marrow biopsy in a few days so keep your fingers...toes....and everything else crossed that the biopsy comes back clear so I can close this chapter of my life and move on to happier things ;)

pigs at clinic?

Trina and I were having way too much fun at clinic! She taught me how to draw pigs....and then somehow we got into the oinking and went around clinic oinking at everyone.......not really sure what was going on but we had everyone laughing...and oinking!

fashionista

The truth of the matter is that sometimes it is just fun to let loose and goof around.....life can be way too serious sometimes! This is a fun "fashion forward" look I came up with all by myself when we visited Grandma and Grandpa. What do you think?

leukemia and it's friends

My Mom's dear friend (and mine too!) told her she wished, "leukemia and all of it's friends would peacefully get out of our lives!" What a quote! So true and we are hoping this is the case....in the very near future!!!!!

Happy Earth Day!

Tree pose is one of my favorite yoga poses and quite fitting for today as it a day to celebrate the Earth and all of the beautiful things about the planet we live on.
